Artist: Teenage Bottlerocket
Album: Freak Out!
Release Date: July 3rd, 2012
It must not be easy to be a punk band in Wyoming. Not exactly a bastion for underground music, let alone hard-hitting, loud music, Teenage Bottlerocket definitely had their work cut out for them. Nonetheless, the Laramie, WY punk band persevered and has become one of the biggest new names in punk rock today.
Freak Out! Is the band’s 5th full-length album and their second on Fat Wreck. It features 14 tracks, two of which appeared on their “Mutilate Me” 7″ that came out back in April 2011 and, of course, features the same logo used on all of their albums in a modified color.
Freak Out! Will be more of the same, high energy, kind of poppy and kind of garage punk sound that the band is so well known for. If you’re unfamiliar, it’s kind of like a mix of Screeching Weasel, Descendents and Swingin Utters – basically, songs about skating, partying and girls. Can’t go wrong.
Teenage Bottlerocket is hits the road in June for a small, and oddly mapped, tour going from Maryland to Colorado to Canada and then down the west coast.
